Born and raised in New Haven, CT, I fell in love with protein structures as an undergraduate at Yale, where I studied Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. In my graduate studies, I am broadly interested in work that takes structural biology beyond simply determining single structures to how these structures change and evolve, from the scale of nanoseconds (protein dynamics) to billions of years (protein evolution). In particular, I am curious how the physical laws mapping sequence to structure shape proteins’ evolutionary landscapes, and how the requirements of natural evolution shape the proteins that we see today. When not daydreaming about proteins, I like going for hikes in the mountains, writing fiction, and spending quality time with my orange tabby cat, Linus Pawling.
