Dissertation Title: Single-molecule studies of bacterial chromosome organization and segregation PhD Dissertation Advisor: Dr. Joseph Loparo, Dept. of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, Harvard Medical School
I studied how bacterial chromosomes are organized by interactions with nucleoid-associated proteins using single-molecule fluorescence microscopy. I also helped develop current state-of-the-art single molecule tools such as magnetic tweezers microscopy as complimentary techniques to study protein-induced DNA mechanics in the lab. Besides researching, I was also interested in teaching science to undergraduates.
