Dissertation Title: Single molecule FRET studies of reverse transcription and chromatin remodeling PhD Dissertation Advisor: Dr. Xiaowei Zhuang, Dept. of Chemistry and Chemical Biology For my PhD I was interested in applying single molecule fluorescence techniques to study the function and regulation of molecular motor enzymes. My work focused on two systems: 1) studying how RNA structure and dynamics regulate the activity of HIV reverse transcriptase, and 2) understanding how SWI/SNF-family enzymes disrupt protein-DNA contacts during chromatin remodeling.
